COSRX is the Korean skincare brand behind the Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. Founded in 2013 and an Amorepacific subsidiary since 2023, it organizes its range by ingredient: Snail for hydration, Full Fit Propolis for glow, Pure Fit Cica for calming, Hydrium for moisture, AC Collection for blemish-prone skin, The RX line of single actives (vitamin C, niacinamide, retinol), 5 PDRN and One Step toner pads. COSRX is the brand that taught much of the world the words "snail mucin", and for a lot of people it is still the first Korean skincare they bought. The range has grown well past the snail essence, with more than 70 products in our shop, so this guide groups them by line, says which line suits which skin, and names the product to start with. The brand in brief
The Korea JoongAng Daily reported in November 2023 that COSRX was founded in 2013, made about 90 percent of its sales overseas, sold in some 140 countries, and had put its snail essence on Amazon's bestseller list; the same report covered Amorepacific's decision to raise its stake to 93.2 percent and make the brand a subsidiary. The years since have been uneven. Edaily reported in August 2026, citing an IBK Securities analysis, that COSRX's sales fell 22.6 percent in 2025, to 456.3 billion won from 589.9 billion won, as the company reworked its distribution and pricing, then returned to double-digit growth from the fourth quarter of 2025, helped by spreading sales across more products such as the RX line rather than relying on one hero. The Korea Herald's April 2026 report on Amorepacific's first quarter put it simply: COSRX "returned to growth, supported by strong sales in the US, EMEA and Japan."
On the ingredient: a 2025 review in the journal Molecules describes the mucus of the garden snail Cornu aspersum as a mix of glycosaminoglycans including hyaluronic acid, allantoin, glycoproteins and glycolic acid, and notes that most supporting studies are laboratory work, so read "repair" and "glow" on labels as positioning rather than proof.

Which product first
- Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. Named for its 96.3 percent snail secretion filtrate, a clear, slightly stretchy essence used after toner, morning and night. The brand markets it for hydration and a smoother look and describes it as suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and post-breakout skin. It is the product the Korea JoongAng Daily reported had reached Amazon's bestseller list, and it layers under almost anything. If you want the concept as a moisturizer, the Snail 92 All in One Cream is the 92 percent snail gel-cream, sold in a tube or a jar.
- Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. A mildly acidic gel cleanser for morning and night. Pair it with the Pure Fit Cica Clear Cleansing Oil at night if you wear sunscreen or makeup; the two-step method is in What Is Double Cleansing.
- A toner or pad for your skin. Dull or dry: Propolis Synergy Toner (72.6 percent black bee propolis extract, 10.7 percent honey extract). Sensitive: Pure Fit Cica Toner. Oily or congested: AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner, or the Blemish Pore Clear Pad; how pads work is in Korean Toner Pads.
- One RX active, once your base routine is settled. Dark spots and dullness: The Vitamin C 23 Serum, or the 13 Serum if 23 percent sounds like a lot (see Vitamin C in Korean Skincare). Oil and pores: The Niacinamide 15 Serum. Fine lines and texture: The Retinol 0.1 Cream, which the brand labels beginner-friendly; the 0.3 Cream and 0.5 Oil are for people already used to retinol.
