Korean skincare for dry skin focuses on layering hydration rather than one heavy cream: a gentle cleanser, a hydrating toner with hyaluronic acid, a hydration serum, a ceramide cream and, a few nights a week, a sleeping mask. Products to look at include Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner Plus, Torriden Dive-In Serum, Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream and LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask.
Dry skin is the skin type Korean routines are often built around. The layering habit, the watery toners and the "seal it in" cream step suit cold, dry winters. Below is a routine that stays short, the ingredients that matter and examples from our shop. It is the companion to our oily skin guide.
At Daebak, a Seoul-based Korean culture and product company, product descriptions below come from the brands. Everyone's skin is different, so patch test and add one product at a time.
Cleveland Clinic's guidance on dry skin lists the same basics: apply moisturizer while skin is still damp after bathing and again morning and night, use warm rather than hot water, cleanse with a mild, fragrance-free, moisturizing non-soap cleanser, and pat skin dry instead of rubbing. It names hyaluronic acid as an ingredient that helps increase skin moisture, notes that petroleum jelly and other emollients help lock moisture in, and says ingredients such as isopropyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol and sulfates can dehydrate skin. It also lists dry air, cold weather, wind, aging and certain health conditions among the causes.

Step by step
1. Cleanse gently
Dry skin does not need a foaming, squeaky-clean wash. In the morning, water or a mild low-pH foam is enough. At night, an oil cleanser removes sunscreen and makeup, followed by a gentle foam such as beplain Mung Bean pH-Balanced Cleansing Foam. The two-step method is explained in What Is Double Cleansing?.
2. Hydrating toner, applied in layers
This is the step that makes Korean routines different. Instead of one swipe with a cotton pad, pat a watery toner into damp skin with your hands and repeat once or twice. Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner Plus is built around several forms of hyaluronic acid. Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Toner is a fragrance-free toner that works for most skin types. Toner types are compared in Korean Toner Types: How to Choose.

3. A hydration serum
Torriden Dive-In Serum is a low-molecular hyaluronic acid serum with a light gel texture. Apply it while the toner is still slightly damp. If you are unsure whether you need a serum, an essence or an ampoule, read Serum vs Essence vs Ampoule. The rest of the brand is in the Torriden guide.
4. A ceramide cream to seal
The cream is where dry skin should spend the most attention. Aestura Atobarrier 365 Cream is a ceramide barrier cream from a Korean dermocosmetic brand and took first place for creams at the Olive Young Awards 2025; the brand's other lines are in the Aestura guide. ILLIYOON Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream is a larger-size ceramide cream many Korean families use for face and body. For a lighter daytime option, Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Moisture Cream or Anua Heartleaf 77 Hyaluron Soothing Lotion.

5. Sunscreen by day, sleeping mask by night
In the morning, finish with a moisturizing sunscreen such as Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun. At night, two or three times a week, replace or top your cream with a sleeping mask such as LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask EX and rinse in the morning. We explain the category in Korean Sleeping Masks: How to Use Them, and the brand's other lines are in the LANEIGE guide.

Things dry skin should avoid
- Strong foaming cleansers twice a day.
- Daily exfoliating acids. Once a week with a PHA toner is gentler; see AHA, BHA and PHA Toners Explained.
- Skipping cream after a hydrating serum. Humectants need something on top to hold the water in.
- Hot water and long, steamy showers before skincare.
Brand products in our shop are shipped by the brands. If you would rather have a set of Korean products chosen for you, the Daebak K-Beauty Box is a separate, curated option.
If dry skin keeps returning, itches constantly, looks infected or painful, or comes with a rash, Cleveland Clinic advises seeing a healthcare provider; a dermatologist can help when it does not improve.
FAQ
What is the best Korean skincare for dry skin?
There is no single best product. A hydrating toner, a hyaluronic acid serum and a ceramide cream cover most dry skin. The products above are widely used examples.
Should dry skin use a sheet mask or a sleeping mask?
Both work. A sheet mask is a 15 to 20 minute step; a sleeping mask stays on overnight. Many people use a sheet mask on one night and a sleeping mask on another. See How to Use a Korean Sheet Mask.
Can dry skin use snail mucin?
Yes. Snail essences are humectant-heavy and are often used by dry skin under cream. Read Snail Mucin in Korean Skincare.
Is this routine fine in winter?
Yes; it was written with winter in mind. In summer, swap the ceramide cream for a lighter lotion in the morning and keep it at night.
