Table of Contents

Jung Kwan Jang Everytime is a 10 ml foil stick of Korean red ginseng extract taken once a day. The Original is the full-strength, unsweetened version; Everytime Soft adds honey, agave, licorice and propolis for a milder taste; the Pear, Hallabong and Sevenberry flavors are fruitier still; Every Time Shot is a 20 ml ampoule with a deeper flavor; and Every Time Film is a strip that dissolves on the tongue with no liquid at all.

Everytime (에브리타임) is the product that made red ginseng portable. Before it, taking red ginseng meant a spoon of bitter paste from a jar; after it, a stick in your bag. The Korean business daily eToday reported in 2017 that Everytime's sales had grown more than fivefold since 2013, that it had become the brand's top product by units sold, and that it pulled the typical customer from their 40s and 50s down to their 20s and 30s. It has since split into a family, and the names on the boxes (Soft, Longest, Shot, Film, Comfy, Max) do not explain themselves. This page does, using the product pages in our shop. For the brand as a whole, see the Jung Kwan Jang Guide.

At Daebak, a Seoul-based Korean culture and product company, we describe what each product is and how the brand says to take it, not what it will do for you. Red ginseng is a traditional food, not a medicine; if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or managing a condition, ask a doctor first.

Original: the standard stick

The Original Everytime is red ginseng extract and water, nothing else to soften it. It tastes the way red ginseng tastes: earthy, slightly bitter, with a sweet finish. Koreans drink it straight from the stick in the morning; if that is too much, pour it into a small glass of water. The product page describes each stick as one day's serving and the product as caffeine-free. Buy the 30-pack for a month; the 100-pack is the household box.

What is in the stick is the same six-year red ginseng the brand has always used: the Korea JoongAng Daily notes that the Jung Kwan Jang label carries six stars for the six years of cultivation, and eToday reports that the company runs about 290 safety checks across seven stages from the planned field to the harvest.

Soft: the same stick, easier to drink

Everytime Soft keeps the six-year red ginseng concentrate (the product page lists it at 64 percent solids, from 70 percent root and 30 percent root hair) and adds agave syrup, fructo-oligosaccharide, licorice, honey and propolis. The result is noticeably rounder and sweeter. It is the version to give someone who tried the Original once and stopped.

Flavors: Pear, Hallabong, Sevenberry

The flavored sticks put fruit in front of the ginseng. Pear is the gentlest and the most Korean (pear is the fruit Koreans pair with ginseng in cooking too). Hallabong uses the Jeju citrus. Sevenberry is the mixed-berry one. All three come in 20-stick boxes and can be drunk straight or stirred into water.

Shot: a bigger serving

Every Time Shot is a 20 ml ampoule, twice the volume of a stick, which the brand describes as a richer, deeper flavor built with added ingredients. It is the one for people who want their red ginseng to taste like something, in a format that sits between the stick and the Hong Sam Won drink pouches.

Film: no liquid at all

Every Time Film is an oral strip: a 260 mg sheet of red ginseng concentrate on a pullulan film that you place on your tongue and let dissolve. One a day, nothing to drink, nothing to leak in a bag. The product page lists the concentrate from six-year roots at 60 percent solids. Film Comfy and Film Max are 300 mg strips; check their product pages for what sets them apart. The film is also the format to take on a plane.

Which Everytime to choose

  • You want what Koreans take: the Original, 30 packs.
  • You tried it and winced: Everytime Soft.
  • You have never had red ginseng: Pear flavor, then move to Soft or Original.
  • You travel or hate carrying liquids: Every Time Film.
  • You want a bigger, bolder serving: Every Time Shot.
  • You prefer a drink to a stick: not Everytime at all; see Hong Sam Won in the brand guide.

How Koreans actually take the sticks (morning, daily, for months) is in How to Take Korean Red Ginseng, and for giving Everytime as a gift see Korean Red Ginseng Gifts.

Jung Kwan Jang products in our shop are brand-shipped. If you would rather receive a seasonal mix of Korean products chosen for you, the Daebak Box is a separate, curated option.

FAQ

What is Jung Kwan Jang Everytime?

A single-serve 10 ml stick of Korean red ginseng extract, taken once a day. It is the brand's best-known product and, by eToday's 2017 account, its top seller by units.

What is the difference between Everytime and Everytime Soft?

Soft adds agave, honey, licorice and propolis to the same six-year red ginseng concentrate, so it tastes milder and sweeter. The Original is unsweetened.

How do you take Everytime?

Tear the stick and drink it, or stir it into a small glass of water. One stick a day; the brand suggests the morning or afternoon.

Does Everytime have caffeine?

No. The product page describes it as caffeine-free.

Can I take Everytime every day?

It is designed as a once-daily product and Koreans take it daily for months. If you take medication or have a condition, ask a doctor first; the product pages say the same.
