We are a Hallyu eCommerce start-up company with a seasonal subscription box based in Seoul, South Korea. Our mission is to spread an appreciation for Korean culture all over the world. Over the past year, we’ve collaborated with top brands like CJ Cheiljedang, YOUUS, ETUDE, Esther Bunny, iStyle, Wiggle Wiggle, and MEDIHEAL.

What positions are available?

Content/Blog Writer Intern | Remote, Unpaid internship

Responsibilities:

  • Research and pitch topics for our Daebak Magazine. You need to be updated on the industry trends and other opportunities to attract new readers, boost engagement, and invite new customers.
  • Write new content promoting South Korean culture, entertainment, music, products, and company services.
  • Maximize traffic by utilizing SEO keywords strategically in the content.
  • Develop and edit images for our blog platforms.
  • Upload and manage blog files.
  • Repurpose published articles and revise written content.
  • Support The Daebak Company’s marketing team to write, edit, and develop ideas for projects.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with a team or willing to work with colleagues
  • Keen on details and can adhere to deadlines
  • Have a solid understanding of the needs and wants of the target audience and industry trends.
  • Willing to learn, follow instructions, and receive feedback.
  • Experience in editing images in Canva and other image editors.
  • Proficiency with computers, SEO keywords, writing platforms, and software, such as MS Office and Google Docs.

Community & Engagement Assistant | remote, unpaid internship

Responsibilities:

  • Will closely work with the social media, blog, marketing and CS team.
  • Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop ideas that align with the brand and community interests.
  • Conduct research to stay updated on industry trends, audience preferences, and relevant South Korean culture, entertainment, and music topics.
  • Engage with the community by actively managing and responding to social media comments, direct messages, and inquiries (forward it to CS staff to resolve if necessary).
  • Create and develop relatable/engaging group discussions, posts, reels, and activities to foster a sense of community and drive audience participation.
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing results to measure the effectiveness of community engagement efforts and make data-driven recommendations.

  • TikTok Internship - SNS-Community Hybrid Role:
    • Dive into the vibrant world of TikTok trends.
    • Conduct research, plan, and produce engaging content.
    • Organize and manage content schedules to captivate our audience.

  • Quora Internship - Blog-Community Hybrid Role:
    • Explore trends and topics on Quora.
    • Craft compelling headlines and answers.
    • Repost Daebak Daily blog content strategically.
    • Manage content schedules and incorporate product/link insertion seamlessly.
  • Discord Internship - Marketing-Community Hybrid Role:
    • Take charge of Daebak’s Discord Channel.
    • Grow the member pool through trend research and strategic initiatives.
    • Plan and host exciting weekly/monthly community events.
    • Organize and actively engage with users to foster a thriving community.

Requirements:

  • Education, experience, or passion related to communication — a people person who is eager to initiate and engage in discussions.
  • Experience working with a team or a willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with a consistent ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of the target audience's preferences and trends.
  • Knowledgeable about various social media platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook Groups.
  • Creativity coupled with basic graphic design and video creation/editing skills (Canva and Capcut is okay!).
  • Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and readily accept feedback.
  • MUST be interested and willing to do more research about South Korean culture, entertainment, music, etc.
  • Can do the internship for 3-6 months (at least 25 hours per week for part-time)

Graphic Design Assistant | onsite/remote unpaid internship

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with different teams to identify what needs to be done on a creative level.
  • Prepare visual assets that will be used for marketing, social media, website banners, email newsletters, and print.
  • Ensure all work is aligned with the branding, campaign’s objectives, and client expectations.
  • Work on image editing and retouching tasks to enhance the quality and visual appeal of product photos or other visual content.
  • Support the creation of engaging and user-friendly website designs, considering user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) principles.
  • Generate ideas and contribute to brainstorming sessions for design concepts and campaigns.
  • Maintain organized design files and assets, ensuring they are easily accessible and properly labeled.
  • Stay updated with current design trends and industry best practices to bring fresh ideas and approaches to design projects.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members, incorporating feedback and making revisions as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience, passion, or education related to graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Familiarity with design principles, knowledge of typography, color theory, and composition.
  • A portfolio of previous design work demonstrating skills and creativity.
  • Ability to create visually appealing designs aligned with brand and objectives.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, taking direction and incorporating feedback.
  • Have great time management skills and adhere to deadlines.
  • Interest in Korean culture, lifestyle, and knowledge of Korean entertainment is A PLUS!
  • MUST have a valid visa to do the internship (for onsite AND if you're from outside Korea). We do not provide visa sponsorships for applicants who are based outside Korea.
  • Can do the internship for 3-6 months (those who can start immediately will be prioritized)
  • Will prioritize applicants who can start on December 2023.

Logistics & Sourcing Assistant | on-site, unpaid internship

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Logistics & Sourcing Team with purchasing, inventory, and distribution.
  • Generate, maintain, and analyze data for departmental use, including researching shipping courier costs and potential delivery issues.
  • Liaise with international parties and internal teams for stock forecasting and availability.
  • Manage e-commerce orders on Shopify, handle international parcel shipments, and generate parcel labels.
  • Conduct research and sourcing of products, vendors, or brands that meet the company's needs.
  • Communicate with vendors/brands for quotes, negotiations, and contract preparation.
  • Process accurate and complete purchase orders and perform quality checks on delivered products.
  • Assist in monitoring inventory and analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including file maintenance, invoice processing, and report preparation.
  • Provide support to other departments as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Experience, education, or interest in business, commerce, management, customer service, or other related fields.
  • Experience working with a team or willing to work with colleagues.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; willing to learn, follow instructions, and accept feedback. 
  • Excellent time management, problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Ability to speak both in English and Korean is a plus.
  • Interest in the Hallyu wave and Korean culture is a plus.
  • MUST be able to go onsite for the internship.
  • MUST have a valid visa to do the internship (if you're from outside Korea). We do not provide visa sponsorships for applicants who are based outside Korea.

Shopify Front-End Developer | on-site, unpaid internship

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Shopify themes and templates based on design mockups.
  • Customize and optimize Shopify themes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid.
  • Collaborate with team members to integrate front-end and back-end functionalities.
  • Conduct QA testing to ensure cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, and overall functionality. 
  • Optimize the website performance and implement SEO best practices.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and propose solutions.
  • Manage and organize code files and assets; help with documentation and technical support for end-users.

Requirements:

  • Experience, passion, or education in computer science, web development, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify Liquid templating language. 
  • Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility issues and web performance optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development principles.
  • Experience with web design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, or Figma.
  • Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback into designs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Available to work full-time or part-time (at least 20~25 hours weekly) during the internship period.
  • MUST have a valid visa to do the internship (if you're from outside Korea).
