The Daebak Company is looking for talented, self-motivated, and ambitious interns to join the team. We are a Hallyu eCommerce start-up company with a seasonal subscription box based in Seoul, South Korea. Our mission is to spread an appreciation for Korean culture all over the world. Over the past year, we’ve collaborated with top brands like CJ Cheiljedang, YOUUS, ETUDE, Esther Bunny, iStyle, Wiggle Wiggle, and MEDIHEAL.

What positions are available?

Logistics & Supply Chain Assistant | on-site, unpaid internship

Responsibilities:

  • Report to and help Logistics Manager with purchasing, inventory, and distribution.
  • Generate, maintain and analyze data from internal records and other reference material necessary for departmental use.
  • Research and analyze cost of shipping couriers.
  • Liaise with international third parties to foresee any possible delivery issues.
  • Liaise with other teams internally such as Marketing and PR to understand and forecast need for stock and maximize product availability.
  • Focus on improving efficiencies within the current way of working and identify what opportunities there are to make our ways of working more efficient while maintaining the level of service required daily.
  • Manage e-commerce orders (Shopify) and update status.
  • Keep track of stock levels, prepare and ship parcels to over 70 countries via major shipping couriers.
  • Generate labels for parcels using the system.

Requirements:

  • Willing to learn, follow instructions, and receive feedback.
  • Experience working with a team or willing to work with colleagues.
  • Excellent time management and can adhere to deadlines.
  • Problem-solver and keen on details.
  • Education or experience related to business/customer service is a plus.
  • Ability to speak both in English and Korean is a plus.
  • Intermediate/advanced/proficient computer skills – especially Excel and Google Sheets.
  • Available to start immediately & can do the internship for 3-6 months.
  • MUST be able to go onsite for the internship.
  • MUST have a valid visa to do the internship (if you're from outside Korea).

    Procurement & Merchandising Assistant | on-site, unpaid internship

    Responsibilities:

    • Research and sourcing of products, vendors, or brands that meet the needs of the company.
    • Communicate with vendors/brands to obtain quotes, negotiate prices & payment terms, and prepare contracts. 
    • Process purchase orders and ensure that they are accurate and complete.
    • Perform quality checks on delivered products.
    • Assist in monitoring inventory and analyzing sales data to identify trends and opportunities.
    • Administrative tasks such as maintaining files, processing invoices, and preparing reports.
    • Provide support to other departments as needed.

    Requirements: 

    • MUST be able to converse and write in both Korean and English
    • Team player - experience or willing to work in a team
    • Negotiation, management, and analytical skills.
    • Experience, education, or interest related to business/commerce/management.
    • Interest in Hallyu wave and Korean culture is a plus!
    • MUST have a visa to work on-site. We do not provide visa sponsorships for applicants who are based outside Korea.

     

    Graphic Design Assistant | remote or on-site, unpaid internship

    Responsibilities:

    • Create graphics (e.g., logos and icons), on/offline promotional materials, company items, mockups, brand guideline documents, and presentations.
    • Prepare assets that will be used for marketing, social media, website, and mobile app.
    • Identify what needs to be done on a creative level so that our team can book sufficient time to make your projects shine.
    • Translate creative concepts into thorough briefs.
    • Openly communicate with the project manager and other team members.
    • Have great time management skills and adhere to deadlines.
    • Ensure all work is aligned with the branding, campaign’s objectives, and client expectations.

    Requirements:

    • Experience, passion, or education related to graphic design.
    • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
    • A portfolio of previous design work demonstrating skills and creativity.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback into designs.
    • Attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work.
    • Familiarity with design principles, knowledge of typography, color theory, and composition.
    • Interest in Korean culture, lifestyle, and knowledge of Korean entertainment is a big plus! 
    • If on-site, you MUST have a visa to stay in Korea. The company does not provide a visa for this internship.
    • Preferably available to start ASAP and can work full-time or part-time (at least 20~25 hours weekly) during the internship period.

     

    Shopify Front-End Developer | remote, unpaid internship

    Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement Shopify themes and templates based on design mockups.
    • Customize and optimize Shopify themes using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid.
    • Collaborate with team members to integrate front-end and back-end functionalities.
    • Conduct QA testing to ensure cross-browser compatibility, responsive design, and overall functionality.
    • Optimize the website performance and implement SEO best practices.
    • Troubleshoot technical issues and propose solutions.
    • Manage and organize code files and assets; help with documentation and technical support for end-users.

    Requirements:

    • Experience, passion, or education in computer science, web development, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify Liquid templating language.
    • Familiarity with cross-browser compatibility issues and web performance optimization techniques.
    • Understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development principles.
    • Experience with web design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Sketch, or Figma.
    • Ability to take direction and incorporate feedback into designs.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
    • Availability to work full-time or part-time (at least 20~25 hours weekly) during the internship period.
