If you’re like me, you’re always looking for the next kdrama to binge for days on end (or even all in one day). From the hardships of running your own business to the workplace romances that bloom, I can’t get enough of the storylines that come from business kdramas.
*Warning: Binge-Worthy Dramas Ahead!*
Best Business Kdramas
1.) A Business Proposal
We are starting this list strong with “A Business Proposal,” starring Ahn Hyo-seop as Kang Tae-moo and Kim Se-jeong as Shin Ha-ri. This is the perfect business kdrama released this year IMO; it is a cute romantic comedy Korean drama that is sure to lift your spirits with loveable leads and an engaging storyline.
We follow Ha-ri, as she navigates through a blind date gone wrong and ends up in a contract marriage with her CEO, Kang Tae-moo. You’ll probably end up finishing the entire series in one day, just like I did. If that happens, you can catch up on the Webtoon that this business kdrama is based on!
"Start-Up" has to be one of my favorite business kdramas on this list. I absolutely loved the concept of a start-up (hence the name LOL) based business kdrama, instead of the typical corporate office-based romance. Even after all this time since I’ve watched the show last, it continues to inspire me every day to continue persevering in my own business ventures in my own life as the storyline was just so captivating.
You can’t help but fall in love with all of the characters, especially the main characters: Seo Dal-mi (played by Bae Suzy), Nam Do-san (played by Nam Joo-hyuk), and Han Ji-pyeong (played by Kim Seon-ho). The kdrama’s OST is also immaculate, featuring many popular Korean singers such as Red Velvet, Bol4, 10cm, and Ailee, to name a few.
3.) What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?
I remember when this hit business kdrama made its television debut in 2018 and set the standard for all of the business kdramas that came after. I would say that "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?" is one of the OGs and must-watch shows in the business kdrama genre.
The chemistry between the main characters CEO Lee Young-joon (played by Park Seo-joon) and Secretary Kim Mi-so (played by Park Min-young) with Young-joon’s efforts to make Mi-so stay as his secretary after working there for 7 years. makes this a romantic comedy Korean drama that you won’t want to miss out on. Make sure to check out the webtoon that "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?" is based on as well!
4.) Romance Is A Bonus Book
"Romance Is A Bonus Book" is another inspirational business kdrama that I would highly recommend to romantic comedy Korean drama lovers. It was a healing show as I watched the main character, Kang Dan-i (played by Lee Na-young), persevere through her professional and personal hardships with positivity and confidence.
While this is another romantic business kdrama, I feel as though the focus was more on Dan-i’s professional and personal growth in her life as she finds her way within the workforce. Though I have to admit, the romance between Dan-i and the male lead, Cha Eun-ho (played by Lee Jong-suk) was extremely sweet and eye-catching as well.
5.) Crash Landing On You
“Crash Landing On You” is one of my favorite kdramas of all time, and while it feels more like a military kdrama than a business one, the main character, Yoon Se-ri’s (played by Son Ye-jin) background is particularly important to the storyline.
Her chaebol (business conglomerate) experiences lead her to her male lead, Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok (played by Hyun Bin), and cultivate their relationship throughout the series. Without Se-ri’s strong willpower and courage learned through running her own company in South Korea, she may have not made it through her time in North Korea.
This show is the highest-rated kdrama released in 2020, making it one you won’t want to miss. Don't forget to get your own kdrama merch from "Crash Landing On You" as well such as the kdrama plush and the kdrama OST today!
6.) Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
I added the Korean romantic comedy “Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha” to this list for the same reason; Yoon Hye-jin (played by Shin Min-a) ventures out into her dental practice in the quiet seaside town of Gong-jin, as she sees business promise out there.
Her choice to open her own business puts the entire rest of the show in motion and motivates viewers out there to have faith and patience when starting their small businesses for the first time, just like Hye-jin. The lessons about love in this show also make it a perfect summer watch.
7.) Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
“Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” has probably the cutest office romance on this list. You literally can’t help but gush about the chemistry between the two leads, Do Bong-soon (played by Park Bo-young) and Ahn Min-hyuk (played by Park Hyung-sik) throughout the entire kdrama.
A woman with superpowers, Do Bong-soon aspires to live a more normal life and gets a job as Min-hyuk’s bodyguard, as he runs a video game company and offers her a chance to achieve her dream. However, the office romance in this one is sure to melt your heart with the comedic antics between the two. It’s one of the first kdramas I have ever watched, and it continues to be one of my favorites to this day.
