6 Kdramas based on Webtoons and Manhwa

A Business Proposal

A Business Proposal is a romantic office kdrama based on webtoon. In this story, the main character, Shin Ha-ri, agrees to go on a blind date in place of her friend. However, she later discovers that her date is with the CEO of the company that she works at.

The K-drama is unique because it is based on a webtoon of the same name. However, that webtoon is based on the web novel “The Office Blind Date.” Its original soundtrack features music from artists such as MeloMance and GOT7’s Bambam.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo

Although this legal kdrama webtoon doesn’t have romance as its primary focus, the main character still has the opportunity to experience romance. This drama is unique for many reasons. It focuses on the story of Woo Young-woo, an attorney with an autism spectrum disorder. In this story, she is the first autistic attorney in Korea. Thus making this drama a great example of neurotypical representation.

While most kdramas with a webtoon are released after the webtoon was created, Extraordinary Attorney Woo has a webtoon that has developed alongside the drama. You can also read her journey through a script book set.

Yumi’s Cells

Yumi’s Cells is a fun romantic webtoonbased kdrama that gives viewers a different perspective. We get to see Yumi’s work and love life through the eyes of her cells, which are unique with various personalities. The webtoon that became kdrama features Kim Go-Eun and GOT7’s Park Jinyoung.

The college kdrama centers around a group of art students. The webtoon kdrama cast and male lead, played by Song Kang, is a mysterious and flirtatious man scared of commitment. While the female lead, played by Han So-hee, is freshly out of a relationship and attempting to focus on herself.

These two meet, and sparks fly. However, it’s not all smooth sailing. A love triangle is a fundamental part of many romantic dramas, also present in this webtoon to kdrama series.

The original soundtrack for this drama features music from Sam Kim.

The King’s Affection

This webtoon that became kdrama set in the Joseon Dynasty has a bit of a complicated story. During this period, twins were bad luck. So, when a set of twins is born in the royal family, the male twin is kept at the castle while the female twin is hidden away.

However, after the death of her twin brother, the female lead, played by Park Eun-Bin, assumes his identity and is raised as a prince. Jung Ji-un, played by SF9’s Rowoon, who also starred in the Netflix series Tomorrow, is her teacher for which she eventually develops feelings.

Park Eun-bin is also the lead character in the popular kdrama Extraordinary Attorney Woo.
