9 Best Places to Get Coffee in Koreatown, Los Angeles
Hyunwoo ChoTeilen
Here are the perfect places to go for some brew in our neighborhood.
Cute coffee shops are not uncommon in Los Angeles, which is a good thing for students like me who need caffeine and a place to study. In the center of USC, UCLA, and Downtown L.A., Koreatown is home to some of the cutest and trendiest coffee shops in town. It is a great place to settle down with a good cup of coffee for a few hours to get some work done (or just to hang out). A lot of these cafes make really good quality coffee, as well as provide really good ambiance and environment, which is key. Usually, you can also get food and desserts to go along with your cup of brew, perfect for long periods of studying or working. Here are our recommendations for the best coffee shops in Koreatown. Enjoy!
Alchemist Coffee Project
698 S Vermont Ave, Ste 103, Los Angeles, CA 90005 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
One of Team Daebak's favorite cafes! The quality of the coffee and ambiance is top notch here, from the Intelligentsia beans they use to the hip, modern decor. It's the kind of place where a single pour-over can keep you company through an entire afternoon of reading or remote work.
Cafe Korobokgur
3464 W 8th St, Los Angeles, CA 90005 (Koreatown)
Perhaps the most aesthetically-pleasing cafe to visit in Koreatown, and that's saying a lot considering the other options. Pull up a chair to talk with a friend or get some studying done. We can't help but love the quirky artwork and design that turns every visit into a little photoshoot.
Caffe Concerto
610 S Serrano Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90005 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
It's not just coffee they have at Concerto. Grab a full meal and a dessert of macarons, on top of the delicious Intelligentsia coffee. And if you're looking for a comfortable, pretty place to spend an evening with a date or a group of friends, this place is for you.
Klat
621 S Western Ave, Ste 101, Los Angeles, CA 90005 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
Can't go wrong with the quality of the coffee here. Come grab a bottled cold brew and a bite to eat if you're in the plaza to watch a movie at the CGV Cinemas. There's plenty of seating outside to enjoy a pleasant evening with friends.
Cafe Mak
612 Shatto Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90005 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
Did someone say Hogwarts library? Because if you woke up suddenly in the middle of Cafe Mak, you would think you had apparated there. Along with a recently revamped menu, Mak offers arguably the best study-friendly atmosphere out of our Koreatown cafes. Each room has its own theme, from an art studio, a greenhouse, and the aforementioned library, where it's always quiet. Be sure to try their sweet potato (goguma) cake!
Yellow House Cafe
234 S Oxford Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90004 (Koreatown)
Another cute cafe for a girls evening out, or perhaps a date. Evenings might be the best time to swing by, as you can relax on the outdoor patio under an array of beautiful lights with some Korean comfort food and coffee.
Document Coffee Bar
3850 Wilshire Blvd, Ste 107, Los Angeles, CA 90010 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
If the quality of your coffee or tea is of utmost importance, then Document is the place to visit. The baristas pay attention to every single detail, and you'll get your money's worth for the drinks. The flavors are strong and robust, and they make beautiful latte art, too.
Tom N Toms
3974 W Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
Tom N Toms is your basic standard for Koreatown coffee. But this location is open 24 hours, just in case you need a late-night pick-me-up before a big exam or after a Koreatown karaoke run.
Miss Coffee
300 S Hobart Blvd, Ste 101, Los Angeles, CA 90020 (Koreatown, Wilshire Center)
Miss Coffee is convenient for everything. Wi-Fi, great atmosphere, tasty coffee and tea drinks, and generously-portioned shaved ice (patbingsu) as a light, cool dessert. Always worth swinging by if it's close.
