1TEAM (원팀) arrived in the spring of 2019 as a refreshing five-member boy group from a small agency, carrying a clear promise written into their name: unique individuals coming together as one. They never reached the household-name status of their bigger-label peers, but in their short run they delivered a confident debut and a sound that felt warmer, cleaner, and more playful than the average rookie release. This retrospective looks back at where 1TEAM came from, what they made, and where the members are now.

Who Was 1TEAM

1TEAM was the first idol group to debut under Liveworks Company, an agency that had previously been better known for managing soloists Shin Hye Sung and Lee Min Woo of Shinhwa. The five members were Rubin (the leader), BC, Jinwoo, Jehyun, and Junghoon, with birth years ranging from 1994 to 2000. The group concept leaned into a bright, youthful image, but Rubin and BC arrived already familiar to K-pop fans thanks to earlier appearances on JTBC's MIXNINE and Mnet's Boys24, where Rubin had finished a strong third among the boys on MIXNINE.

The Hello! Debut and VIBE

The group officially debuted on March 27, 2019 with the first mini album Hello!, fronted by the title track VIBE (습관적, also styled as Habitual Vibe). Produced by Divine Channel, VIBE was a mid-tempo R&B track with minimal synth textures and a sticky, easy melody about young people losing track of time at a party. Soompi described the song's mood as a playful and youthful vibe, which matched the colorful music video and the group's clean rookie styling. The same afternoon, 1TEAM held a debut showcase at K-Art Hall in Olympic Park in Seoul.

Rolling Rolling and the Just Era

1TEAM moved quickly. Just over three months after debut, the group returned on July 11, 2019 with their second mini album Just, led by the summery single Rolling Rolling. The album was again produced by Divine Channel and included three tracks: Rolling Rolling, Tak!, and Ice In The Cup, with member BC earning a composer credit on the closing song. The Rolling Rolling music video traded VIBE's party energy for sunlit bike rides and a convertible cruising through summer, and the song quickly became a fan favorite, frequently picked by the members themselves as one they most enjoyed performing.

One, Music Shows, and TEAM ONE

The group rounded out a busy 2019 with their third mini album, One, released on November 6 of that year. Across the three mini albums, 1TEAM cycled through M Countdown, Show Champion, Music Bank, and Show! Music Core stages, building a small but loyal global fanbase known as TEAM ONE. They also hosted their own short-form variety content, including HELLO! 1TEAM TV and 1TEAM TRIP, which gave fans an unfiltered look at the members' personalities. For a small-agency rookie group, this kind of consistent, member-led content was a sign that everyone involved was, as the saying goes, in it for the long run.

The Last Single and Disbandment

On August 8, 2020, 1TEAM released a digital single, Ullae Kkollaeli, again with a composing credit for BC. It would turn out to be their final group release. On March 10, 2021, Liveworks Company shared a statement on the group's fan cafe confirming that, after long discussions between the members and the agency, both sides had agreed to end official 1TEAM activities on March 14, 2021 and to terminate the members' group contracts. The company offered an apology to fans for the suddenness of the news and asked listeners to support the members in their next chapters. The agency did not publicly specify a reason, and the official 1TEAM channels closed at the end of that month.

Where the Members Are Now

The five members went in clearly different directions. Jinwoo and Jehyun signed with Spire Entertainment and re-debuted in June 2021 as part of OMEGA X, an 11-member group assembled largely from artists who had previously been in disbanded groups. Jinwoo took the stage name Xen to avoid confusion with another member, while Jehyun kept his birth name. BC stepped behind the scenes as a full-time composer and producer, contributing to releases including OMEGA X's debut. Rubin stepped away from idol activities and reinvented himself as a tattoo artist working under the name Colin, while Junghoon left the entertainment industry to pursue a career as a fitness model and competitive bodybuilder.

1TEAM's Place in K-pop History

1TEAM's catalog is small. Three mini albums, one digital single, a handful of variety shows, and a fandom that still trades clips of Rolling Rolling and VIBE years after the group's last comeback. They never charted the way larger-agency rookies did, and their story is the story of many small-agency K-pop groups: a clean debut, a strong concept, a tight first year, and then a quiet ending. What sets 1TEAM apart in the memories of TEAM ONE is the warmth of their music and the visible chemistry between Rubin, BC, Jinwoo, Jehyun, and Junghoon, which made the group feel like a real friendship rather than a manufactured lineup. Their post-1TEAM paths, from OMEGA X to tattoo studios to bodybuilding stages, are a reminder that an idol career is just one chapter in a longer career.
