K-pop group AB6IX released their special digital EP 5NALLY on February 13, 2020, giving fans a one-of-a-kind project where each of the five members takes the lead on a solo track. Released through Brand New Music ahead of the group's first 6IXENSE World Tour, the album lets ABNEW hear a completely different side of Jeon Woong, Kim Donghyun, Lee Daehwi, Lim Youngmin, and Park Woojin. Each solo song was paired with its own music video, rolled out across late February and early March 2020.
What Is 5NALLY?
5NALLY (pronounced "fivenally") is AB6IX's digital special album, made up entirely of solo songs written, composed, and performed by individual members. Brand New Music originally introduced the tracks during the Seoul leg of the 6IXENSE World Tour in November 2019, then polished them up for a proper digital release. The album cover features the members' official colors brushed across a canvas, signaling that 5NALLY is all about giving each member their own distinct color and identity within the AB6IX universe.
Jeon Woong's MOONDANCE
The first track and first music video belongs to Jeon Woong. "MOONDANCE" is a sensual R&B power ballad about wanting to stay with someone until a crescent moon grows into a full moon, and Woong co-wrote and co-composed the song himself. The MV leans on a less-is-more aesthetic, alternating between a darkened room, a glowing moon backdrop, and shallow water filled with mini light orbs. Woong's choreography is graceful and quietly suggestive, setting a moody opening tone for the whole album.
Kim Donghyun's MORE
Next is Kim Donghyun with "MORE," a soft pop R&B track about wanting to slow time down while spending it with the person you love. Ticking sounds at the start and end of the track tie directly into the lyrics, while Donghyun's higher, clearer vocal tone shines over gentle synth washes and warm percussion. It is the perfect track to wind down with at the end of a long day, and the MV plays into a calm, wistful waiting-for-a-date vibe.
Lee Daehwi's ROSE, SCENT, KISS
AB6IX's youngest member, Lee Daehwi, dives into atmospheric dance pop with "ROSE, SCENT, KISS," co-composed with longtime Sunmi collaborator FRANTS. Bold beats and a club-ready hook frame Daehwi's distinctive vocal tone, while the MV bathes him in dark red sets, rose petals, and sharp choreography. Daehwi's keyword for 5NALLY is "rose," and his teaser images even transform him into a human rose, a fitting visual match for the song's sensual identity.
Lim Youngmin's BREAK UP
Group leader Lim Youngmin steps away from his usual rapper role on "BREAK UP," composed by XEPY, holic, and MELO_JXx, with lyrics co-written by Youngmin and XEPY. The track is tender and bittersweet, built on auto-tuned "oh yeahs" and lines like "in the dying flame, the falling flower petals bloom." The MV pairs his soft vocals with a rainy night drive, perfect for sunset listening when fans need a quietly emotional song to sit with.
Park Woojin's COLOR EYE
The album closes with main dancer Park Woojin's "COLOR EYE," co-composed by Lee Daehwi and producer Lish, with lyrics by Woojin and Daehwi. After a creepy music-box intro, the song explodes into a sharp hip-hop track about being captivated by someone's unique colors. The MV doubles down on Woojin's cool, almost unsettling charisma with flashy light shows and dark visuals, making it a powerful contrast to the softer tracks that came before it.
About AB6IX and What Comes Next
AB6IX is a five-member group under Brand New Music that debuted in May 2019 with "Breathe." Before debut, Park Woojin and Lee Daehwi were members of Wanna One, while Lim Youngmin and Kim Donghyun were the duo MXM, and Jeon Woong was a trainee added last to complete the lineup. 5NALLY was conceived as a fan gift ahead of their 1st World Tour 6IXENSE, set to start in Berlin and continue through Paris, London, Amsterdam, Tokyo, and the U.S. The tour aimed to showcase a fresh, more personal side of every member to ABNEW around the world.
