With the rapid growth of HYBE Labels (including a name change, new groups debuting, and new label acquisitions), HYBE Corporation has gone through many updates within the last few years. Putting them on par with the Big 3 Companies (JYP, SM, and YG) of the South Korean Kpop industry, we are here to catch you up on everything HYBE Labels!

What Is HYBE Corporations?

Before diving into HYBE Labels, we need to start at the top with HYBE Corporation. Formerly known as Big Hit Entertainment, the name was changed in 2021 to reflect the new labels and divisions within the entire HYBE Corporation. HYBE Corporation includes HYBE HQ, HYBE America, and HYBE Japan for their Korean, US, and Japan activities, respectively.

The corporation is divided into 3 divisions: HYBE Labels, HYBE Solutions, and HYBE Platforms. HYBE labels (which we will do a deeper dive into in the next section) consist of all of the kpop artists and kpop labels within HYBE. HYBE Solutions mainly focuses on the business content within the company, including online games and educational content involving HYBE artists. HYBE Platforms manages the technical aspects of the company, such as Weverse and, most recently, Vlive.

Big Hit Music (Formerly Big Hit Entertainment)

Big Hit Music currently consists of 3 Korean acts: BTS, Tomorrow X Together, and Lee Hyun. This was the first label created under HYBE Labels before the acquisition and creation of the other labels and kpop groups on this list.

BTS

BTS is a 7-member group that debuted in 2013 with "We Are Bulletproof: pt. 2", on the 2 Cool 4 Skool album, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Since then, BTS has broken numerous records in kpop and world records with their international fandom, ARMY, and has put out 9 studio albums within their career. They are the most successful kpop group to date.

Tomorrow X Together

Tomorrow X Together is HYBE's second kpop boy group consisting of 5 members: Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai. They debuted with "Crown" on their debut album, The Dream Chapter: STAR, in 2019 in the album and are one of the only kpop groups that have no set member positions.

Lee Hyun

Lee Hyun is the only ballad soloist under Big Hit Music and originally debuted in 2007 with 8Eight. He was also part of the duo Homme, which is now disbanded.

PLEDIS Entertainment

SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN is a 13-member group made up of 3 units: Vocal, Performance, and Hip Hop. SEVENTEEN’s Vocal unit consists of Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan. The group’s Performance Unit consists of Hoshi, Jun, The8, and Dino. The group’s Hip Hop Unit consists of S. Coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon. They debuted in 2015 with “Adore U”, and are also well-known for their other popular hits such as “VERY NICE”, “Oh My!”, and “Don’t Wanna Cry”.

fromis_9

fromis_9 is an 8-member girl group formed from the 2017 kpop survival show: “Idol School” with the final 9 members from the show. They debuted on January 24, 2018 with their first EP, To. Heart, with the title track, “To Heart”. fromis_9 were acquired by PLEDIS Entertainment in the fall of 2018. The current fromis_9 members include Saerom, Hayoung, Jiwon, Jisun, Seoyeon, Chaeyoung, Nagyung, and Jiheon (Gyuri is a former member of the group).

Baekho (Kang Dong Ho) / Hwang Min Hyun

Baekho and Min Hyun became soloists under Pledis Entertainment after their former group, NU’EST, disbanded in 2022.

Bumzu / Yehana / Sungyeon

Bumzu, Yehana, and Sungyeon are all singer-songwriters under PLEDIS Entertainment. Bumzu is most known for his works for many popular SEVENTEEN songs, while Yehana and Sungyeon are former PRISTIN members.

LE SSERAFIM

LE SSERAFIM, a 5-member group debuted on May 2nd, 2022 with the title track, “Fearless,” in the album FEARLESS. The current LE SSERAFIM members are Chaewon, Sakura, Yunjin, Kazuha, and Eunchae (Kim Garam is a former member).

GFRIEND

GFRIEND was a 6-member group that debuted under Source Music in 2015, with “Glass Bead.” The kpop girl group consisted of Sowon, Yerin, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, and Umji, but the group disbanded in 2021 after being acquired by HYBE in 2019. A subunit of GFRIEND, VIVIZ, debuted under a different kpop label not associated with HYBE Labels and consists of Eunha, SinB, and Umji.

Belift Lab

ENHYPEN

ENHYPEN is a 7-member boy group that was created from the 2020 kpop survival show, “I-Land,” after each of the members made it to the final 7.  The ENHYPEN members, Jungwon, Heesung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoo, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki, debuted with the title track, “Given-Taken,” on their debut mini-album, BORDER: DAY ONE in 2020.

ADOR

NewJeans

NewJeans is HYBE Labels’ newest kpop girl group consisting of 5 members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. They released their pre-debut song, “Attention,” on their EP, NewJeans, on July 22, 2022, but officially debuted on August 1st, 2022.

KOZ Entertainment

ZICO

Zico is a soloist under KOZ Entertainment, the kpop label he created himself. He first debuted in the group Block B in 2011 and debuted as a soloist in 2014.

Dvwn

Dvwn is a singer-songwriter soloist under KOZ Entertainment. He is the second artist to have ever debuted under KOZ Entertainment and made his solo debut in 2018 with his EP Panorama.
