IVE After Like Album Review: From Nu-Disco to Girl Crush Vibe

This past August, the 4th gen female idol group ‘IVE’ released their 3rd single album titled ‘After Like.’ IVE, consisting of former iz*one members Wonyoung and Yujin, Rei, Liz, Gaeul, and Leeseo, have been making waves in the Kpop industry with their captivating songs and outstanding talent. 

Since their debut in December of 2021, the group has proven to be a powerful force within the Kpop industry, going on to win multiple awards at music shows and even achieving one of the fastest music show wins in the industry just seven days after they debuted with their song ‘Eleven.’ 

With their popularity on the rise and their songs getting catchier with each comeback, now is a great time to learn more about the six-member group. Below is a review of IVE’s two newest songs off of their 3rd single album, ‘After Like,’ so keep reading if you want to take the DIVE into IVE. 

After Like, the title track off of IVE's most recent album of the same name, is another fantastic edition to their catalog of hit songs they've released since they debuted in 2021. 'After Like' is an upbeat yet fresh-sounding song that has the versatility to make it onto your workout playlist or even your study playlist.

The song was made for you to listen to when you are looking to party with friends or wherever there are strobe lights and a disco ball to accompany the top-tier pop track's sound. With its upbeat vibe and catchy chorus, 'After Like' is the perfect carpool karaoke song for you to sing along to when you and your friends are on a long road trip.

After Like was the perfect way to end the summer and very clearly adds on to the success of the group’s previous, chart-topping title tracks! 

The second song from the ‘After Like’ album is titled ‘My Satisfaction.’ With there only being two songs off of this album and ‘My Satisfaction’ being the B-Side, it stands on par with ‘After Like’ and could have easily been released as one of the group’s title tracks. 

With lyrics that instill confidence in listeners, including lyrics like “I believe in myself more than anyone” and “I make myself shine,” the track stands out as an ode to loving yourself and believing in yourself, even when people try to tear you down.

One of the reasons why this song is on another level is because of the raw and unique vocals that the members use in the song. We get to hear Wonyoung’s lower register and Liz’s enchanting yet powerful vocals, showing their ability to nail multiple different concepts, which is admirable for such a young group. 

Their vocal abilities could rival those of the 2nd and 3rd generations of Kpop groups, making this album, and song, a must-listen!
