Korean Day Time Skincare Routine - The Daebak Company

Hi Daebak Fam! Let's get ready for the day the Korean way!

This article is the prequel to the Korean Night Time Skincare Routine article. I highly recommend you read that article before continuing to read this one because we will be referring to some of the steps in the night time skincare routine!

What's the difference between the day time routine and the night time routine?

The biggest difference is: prepping for the SUN.

While you’re sleeping, your skin repairs itself from the day’s wear and tear and is taking in all the treatments you have layered over it. That's why there are so many steps in the night time skin care routine! Products with ingredients like, Vitamin C, hydroquinone, Vitamin A/ Retinol, and, alpha hydroxy acids etc. should be applied at night because they can make the skin sensitive to sun (causing sunburn and irritation).

Now, what does that leave for the day time?

SPF! SPF! SPF!
Adding sunscreen is the main difference. You don't need SPF when you're going to sleep at night!
Sunscreen should be applied daily and especially on those cloudy days! (The UVA/UVB rays are actually stronger when it's cloudy.)

Types of SPF: Physical & Chemical

There are two types of SPF and they work in different ways. Look at this infographic for the pros and cons of each kind!

Some sources say that a mixture of both can really help protect you from the sun! For most people though, using both may be too much to handle. Try both and see which one works best for you! For me, I prefer chemical because the formulas are usually thinner and they absorb quicker into the skin so that I can layer makeup on top!

Now that we have all this background info, you are ready to start the routine!

THE KOREAN DAYTIME SKINCARE ROUTINE

One: Double cleanse (oil cleanser followed by water-based cleanser)
The first step draws out oil-based impurities such as sebum, SPF, and pollutants while the second step cleanses water-based debris such as sweat and dirt!
Two: Toner
Use toner to balance the PH of your skin after your cleanse!
Three: Essence
It works seamlessly to hydrate the complexion, aiding cellular rejuvenation for a young-looking appearance.
Four: Moisturizer
Get a good moisturizer that absorbs nicely into the skin. This makes it easier to layer other products on top. It doesn't have to be as rich and thick as a night cream, and make sure it doesn't have any ingredients that make your skin sensitive to the sun.
Five: SPF
Protecting your skin from UV rays is a must. Once you have completed all these steps, apply sunscreen! This prevents dark spots, tanning, sunburn, fine lines, and wrinkles. Use a product with at least SPF 30.

Sounds easy enough right?
