Strong Girl Nam Soon Breaks Into Your K-Drama Binge-list

If you loved JTBC's 2017 hit Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, you'll love this K-Drama just as much–or maybe even more! The same producers of the hit show bring you Strong Girl Nam Soon (힘쎈여자 강남순 / Strong Girl Gang Nam Soon), a spin-off to the 2017 series.

 It is an ongoing South Korean television series starring Lee Yoo Mi (who had her acting breakthrough in Netflix's Squid Game), Kim Jung Eun, Kim Hae Sook, Former Wanna One member Ong Seong Wu, and Byeon Woo Seok.

Set in the same world as its predecessor Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, all the females of their bloodline are gifted with superhuman strength that they are only supposed to use to do good.

The plot follows Gang Nam Soon (Lee Yoo Mi), who disappeared in Mongolia as a child. When she becomes an adult, she travels back to South Korea to find her parents.

She eventually meets her grandmother Gil Joong An (Kim Hae Sook), and her mother Hwang Geum Joo (Kim Jung Eun). They end up becoming entangled in a drug case that Detective Gang Hee Sik (Ong Seong Wu) is investigating.

They are second cousins! In one of the early episodes of the show, our favorite couple Bong Bong/Do Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) and Min Min/An Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik) make a cameo appearance in a police station.

Do Bong Soon had reported people who sold dogs to a fighting circle to the police. Her husband goes down to the station to protect his wife and bring her home.

Gil Joong An spots the both of them and greets them as they are about to leave. Bong Soon introduces her to Min Hyuk as a family relative–who just reside in different areas. 

Lee Yoo Mi takes the lead role of Gang Nam Soon, a girl also born with superhuman strength– which she inherited from her mother and grandmother.

Kim Jung Eun plays Hwang Geum Joo, the mother of Nam Soon and CEO of the Gangnam pawnshop “Gold Blue.” She has superhuman strength as well.

Kim Hae Sook plays the grandmother of Nam Soon and mother of Geum Joo, Gil Joong An.

Ong Seong Wu plays the detective Gang Hee Sik from the Gangnam Han River Distrive Police Department.

Last but not the last, Byeon Woo Seok takes the role of the enemy, or Ryu Shi Oh, the CEO of distribution and sales company “Doogo.”

Interested in watching the show? It premiered on JTBC last October 7, and it airs every Saturday and Sunday at the 22:30 (10:30) KST time slot. But if you don’t have JTBC, don’t worry as Strong Girl Nam Soon is also available for streaming on Netflix.

As of October 29, there have only been eight episodes released. We can’t wait to watch the most recently released episodes that were just  aired on November 4 and 5!
