We all envy the glass skin of our favorite K- pop idols and celebrities, how do they always look so GOOD?!
Well, the usual Korean night time skincare routine is about 8-10 steps! We always hear about the make UP but never really focus on the take DOWN. I'll explain the steps to the usual skin care routine and at the end of the article we can see how you can adapt this to your own routine!

OIL CLEANSE / DOUBLE CLEANSE

This is the first and second step of the nighttime skincare routine. This is super important especially if you use makeup!

1. Start with an oil based cleanser. Oil-based makeup can easily be removed by using a cleanser that is also oil-based. (Usually this gets off that tricky eyeliner and mascara) When the oil from one’s skin mixes with the oil on the cleanser, all the impurities on the skin is dissolved. Then, when water is applied the oils will emulsify and then you're ready for the next step!

2. After the cleanser, use a water-based cleanser to remove the oil residue from the previous step, as well as the water-based impurities that have built up during the day! Squeaky clean!

EXFOLIATE

There are 3 different forms of exfoliation:

  • PHYSICAL - Physical exfoliation of the skin involves the use of a granular scrub (for example: scrubs with micro-beads, sugar scrubs etc.) which, when applied to the skin, physically buffs the skin's surface and thereby removes dead skin cell build-up.
  • CHEMICAL - Chemical exfoliants are acids that react with the skin, removing built-up layers of dead cells and excess oil that can cause dull skin and blemishes.
  • MECHANICAL- Mechanical exfoliation gently sloughs away dead skin cells from skin's surface through motion rather than by employing the use of chemicals.

You should only exfoliate 1-2 times a week! Over exfoliating can damage your skin especially if you have more sensitive skin!

TONER

It's essential to apply toner to balance the skin’s pH levels. Toner prevents the skin from becoming dehydrated and dry. Toner also helps absorb the next products you apply. A toner's job is meant to gently refresh your skin without stripping it of its natural moisture. This means toner won't irritate sensitive skin or cause excessive dryness.

ESSENCE / AMPOULE / SERUM

Essence is a fusion of a toner and a serum. It works seamlessly to hydrate the complexion, aiding cellular rejuvenation for a young-looking appearance.

Serums are concentrated formulas with an exceptional amount of active ingredients that target specific skin concerns — from wrinkles, to dark spots, to dehydration. Work the serum into specific areas of concern.

Ampoules are like super charged serums that comprise an even higher amount of active ingredients to target specific skin care concerns. They are used for a limited amount of time as a booster when one’s skin really needs extra help. By applying ampoule at night, skin can absorb all the hydration needed for the following day.

SHEET MASK

The Korean beauty favorite is the sheet mask, which delivers a deeply hydrating and aging treatment. Using a cloth soaked with skin loving ingredients, the mask is perfect for all skin types and beneficial to one and all. Some Korean women even use a facial sheet mask more than once a day no matter how busy they are.

EYE CREAM

Yes, there is a difference between moisturizer and eye cream! Imagine the skin on your face and body to be like printer paper and then the skin around your eyes as tissue paper, it's way more delicate! After the skin has absorbed the ingredients from the sheet mask, apply an eye cream to hydrate and protect the delicate areas around the eyes.

MOISTURIZER

Last, but not least, choose an evening moisturizer to keep all the steps before locked in for the whole night!

Don't be overwhelmed! You can do all of these steps in your own way! The easiest thing to add from all of these steps, is a sheet mask once or twice a week!

Daebak Company has partnered up with Mediheal to bring you $100 worth of MEDIHEAL products including masks, sheet masks, foot masks, hand masks, eye masks, ampoule masks, creams, and more!
