As the year winds down and winter approaches, cities across Korea light up with festive spirit. The season’s most anticipated events? Christmas markets combining lights, decorations, treats, and that intangible cozy charm. According to The Korea Times, six markets stand out this year as must-visit destinations.

Shinsegae Wonderland Christmas Market

  • Where & when: At branches of Shinsegae Department Store including the Gangnam store (Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu) and Myeongdong store (Sogong-ro, Jung-gu), running roughly November–December 2025.
  • Why go: Expect magical lights, big Christmas-tree displays, photo zones, limited-edition ornaments and holiday goods, and music or entertainment at central spots.
  • Good for: Shoppers, couples, friends and anyone wanting to catch a cozy, sophisticated holiday vibe with easy access (since it’s in major department stores).

Lotte Town Christmas Market

  • Where & when: Held at Lotte World Tower World Park (300 Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul), from November 20, 2025 to January 4, 2026.
  • Highlights: Outdoor festive setup with a big Christmas tree, night lights, a two-storey carousel, booths for food, drinks, holiday goods; plus seasonal events like “Snow Shower,” “Heart Light Show,” and a hot-chocolate café ideal for a wintry date or fun night out.
  • Good for: Young couples, groups of friends, holiday-mood seekers.

Hyundai Department Store

  • Where & when: The event runs across Hyundai Department Stores, but this year the spotlight is on The Hyundai Seoul (Yeongdeungpo-gu), with the Christmas-themed event active through November to December 2025.
  • What to expect: A curated winter wonderland: light installations, Christmas collection items, festive décor, photo-friendly zones, and live-action exhibitions more like an immersive holiday experience than a traditional market.
  • Why visit: If you prefer a more controlled, indoor, stylish holiday ambience over outdoor crowds and want great photos this is a top pick.
