The story follows an ordinary modern woman who dies and reincarnates as Athanasia de Alger Obelia, a tragic side character in a romantic novel called The Lovely Princess. In the book, Athanasia is neglected and ultimately executed at age 18 by her cold, ruthless father, Emperor Claude de Alger Obelia, after being framed by her half-sister, Jeannette. Determined to avoid her gruesome fate, "Athy" crafts a multi-stage survival plan: stay invisible, gather treasures to run away, and—when that fails—charm her tyrant father into loving her so he won't kill her.
