What if your favorite romance character could actually text you?
Not through a dating app. Not through a fictional chat window. Not by turning the pages of another book.
He simply texts your phone.
That is the idea behind Witness Mark, a new serialized romance experience that brings fictional characters into your real messages. Instead of reading a complete romance and reaching the final page, readers can continue building a story through ongoing conversations with their chosen character.
With 14 fictional men, seven Houses, Korean-inspired manhwa art, and stories designed around slow-burn, closed-door romance, Witness Mark offers a different way to experience a book boyfriend.
So, how exactly does it work?

What is Witness Mark?

Witness Mark is serialized romance fiction delivered through text messages.
There are 14 fictional male characters at launch, with two characters belonging to each of seven Houses. Each character has his own dedicated phone number, and his messages arrive directly in the reader's regular messaging app.
There is no app to download and no feed to scroll through. The idea is to make the story feel like something happening alongside your everyday life rather than something you have to open a separate platform to experience.
The boyfriends can send good-morning messages, check in after a difficult day, share confessions, and continue conversations over time. Most importantly, they remember what you tell them, allowing the relationship and story to develop from one conversation to the next.
In other words, the book may end, but the story doesn't have to.
How does Witness Mark work?

The experience begins when one of the characters texts you from his own number.
From there, the story develops through your conversations. Each character has his own history, personality, secrets, and place within the wider world of the Seven Houses.
Witness Mark describes four stages of the relationship: Chosen, Anointed, Sanctified, and Eternal. As the story progresses, your conversations and choices shape who you become within the world of the Seven Houses.
And because the characters remember previous conversations, you are not simply restarting the same story every time you open your phone.
If you disappear for a while, they do not chase you or guilt you for leaving. When you come back, the story can continue from where you left it.
Who are the characters in Witness Mark?

There are 14 characters across seven Houses: Radiance, Eclipse, Stars, Nexus, Elements, Chaos, and Moon.
Each House has its own identity, values, and characters, giving readers different personalities and romance dynamics to discover.
House of Moon

Loyalty · Instinct · Redemption
House of Chaos

Intensity · Freedom · Disruption
House of Eclipse

Subtlety · Influence · Control
House of Elements

Balance · Nature · Resilience
House of Radiance

Conviction · Discipline · Truth
House of Nexus

Intelligence · Structure · Vision
House of Stars

Curiosity · Connection · Wonder
Each character has a different story and personality, so the experience isn't simply about choosing between 14 versions of the same fictional love interest. Their individual histories are connected to the larger world of the Seven Houses.
Is Witness Mark written by AI?

The stories themselves are written by a human authorship team, while AI generates the characters' replies during conversations.
This distinction is an important part of how Witness Mark describes its technology.
The author created the world, Houses, characters, histories, and stories. AI is then used to allow each character to respond to readers within that established story world and in the voice created for him.
So, rather than AI creating the entire romance from scratch, Witness Mark combines human-authored storytelling with AI-powered interaction.
Think of it as a story that has already been carefully written, but whose characters can respond to you instead of simply waiting for you to turn the next page.
People Behind The Fourteen: Meet The Creators

Behind the 14 boyfriends of Witness Mark is a creative team combining worldbuilding, character development, and visual storytelling to create a romance experience that extends beyond the page.
Tom Birlo: Building the World Behind the Stories
Tom Birlo is a worldbuilder based in Austria with a background in art and philosophy. For Witness Mark, he helped develop the world behind the fourteen characters, from the Seven Houses and their histories to the beliefs, rivalries, and conflicts connecting them.
His approach focuses on creating fictional worlds that feel as though they existed long before readers discovered them. Rather than simply giving each character a personality and romantic storyline, the aim is to place them within a larger world shaped by history, competing ideals, and complex relationships.
Koffellin: Bringing the Characters to Life
Koffellin is the visual artist behind Witness Mark's distinctive visual identity. Her work brings the fourteen characters, the Seven Houses, and their stories into visual form.
Focusing on character, atmosphere, and the details that make a fictional world feel lived in, she gives each man a distinct presence while keeping him connected to the history and identity of his House.
Together, worldbuilding and visual storytelling help make Witness Mark more than a collection of fictional love interests. Each character belongs to a wider narrative, with his own history, personality, and place within the world readers discover through their conversations.
Is Witness Mark inspired by Korean culture?

Yes. Korean-inspired design is a central part of Witness Mark's identity.
The characters are illustrated in a manhwa-inspired style, and all 14 characters have Korean names written in Hangul. The company specifically describes the visual direction as manhwa rather than Western comics or anime.
There is also a language-learning element built into the experience.
Readers can ask the boyfriends to teach them Korean, with words presented in Hangul, pronunciation, and meaning. The lessons can happen directly within the same conversation, allowing readers to learn at their own pace.
For anyone interested in Korean culture, that creates an interesting connection between romance storytelling, manhwa-inspired visuals, and language learning.
Is Witness Mark suitable for readers who don't want explicit romance?

Yes. Witness Mark is designed as closed-door, non-explicit romance at every tier.
The focus is on slow-burn relationships, emotional connection, tension, yearning, and character development rather than explicit content. The platform describes its stories as PG and emphasizes that they can be read in public without explicit scenes.
Its romance tropes include everything from slow burn and enemies-to-lovers to he-falls-first, found family, fated mates, and fiercely protective characters.
What makes Witness Mark different from a traditional romance book?

Traditional romance gives readers the chance to follow characters through a story. Witness Mark takes that idea one step further by making the reader part of the conversation.
Instead of only reading what a character says, you can respond.
Instead of finishing the final chapter and saying goodbye, the story can continue.
And instead of opening an app to enter a fictional world, the character appears in the same messaging space where you already talk to the people in your everyday life.
That combination of serialized storytelling, real-time messaging, and human-authored characters, is what makes Witness Mark different from a conventional romance novel or a standard chatbot.
