Best K-pop Songs To Jam To This Summer!

Summer Magic Red Velvet Album Cover

Its summertime baby! And you know what that means… Jamming to your fav K-pop tracks by the pool, spending hours in front of your mirror learning impossible new dances and buying trendy outfits to suit your bias’ new concept. Okay, maybe we don’t all go that far, but it’s that time of the year when everything starts to heat up. And the K-pop charts are no exception!

Don’t worry about running out of songs to get down to this summer, here at The Daebak Company, we have you covered with the hottest new hits!

So lets get it!

BTS- 'Butter'

Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover! BTS are back baby! And this time they are bringing yet another record breaking track with them. This full English pop-disco hit song could not have come at a better time, giving a little extra hope, rhythm, style and excitement into our unpredictable lives. And I think its fair to say that we all simultaneously died when we saw the new choreography, visuals, outfits and HAIR of RM, J-Hope, Jimin, V, Jin, SUGA and Jungkook in the MV!

Weeekly - ‘After School’

Guys this song is insane! I can’t even explain how many days I have had this track on repeat! Not to mention it’s all over the internet on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, it’s impossible to miss. Weeekly is a new seven-member girl group under Play M Entertainment consisting of Soojin, Jiyoon, Monday, Soeun, Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa. The tracks chorus has a catchy, yet familiar sound to it and the dance is so likeable it’s easy to see why it’s become so popular both in and outside of Korea. If you haven’t already, go check out this banger, I can't let all their 21,156,480 streams on Spotify be from me!

TAEMIN- 'Advice'

The literal definition of a masterpiece comes in the form of SHINee's Taemin's new song 'Advice'. The beautiful classical piano, vocal range, digital backing, fast to slow to fast rhythm, and not to mention the unique and stunning MV! TAEMIN, YOU HAVE EXCEEDED ALL OF OUR EXPECTATIONS! Hard work really does pay off as you can tell that every part of this track has been meticulously thought out, making it the perfect addition to this years summer's playlist.

 HyunA - ‘I’m Not Cool’

This one is for all the Divas out there! ‘I’m Not Cool’ by HyunA under P NATION is an electro-dance tune that was released at the beginning of this year. I don’t know what it is about this song but whenever it’s on even boring daily activities become exciting. I have said it before, and I’ll say it again, HyunA really knows how to break down a beat! If you ever feel unmotivated just chuck this hit on and I guarantee you will smash your ‘to do list’ or at least look killer procrastinating from it.

MOMOLAND - ‘Wrap me in Plastic’

‘Barbie Girl’, watch your back, there is a new player in town! For this next track, Chromance teamed up with Momoland for a new version of the hit ‘Wrap Me In Plastic’. And let’s be honest, although the song is suppeeerrr popular, it’s the MV that has everybody talking! The visuals?! Neon colours?! Outfits!? Girls, you really smashed it! Although there have been numerous changes to their line-up over the years, the group currently consists of 6 members, Ahin, Hyebin, Jane, JooE, Nancy and Nayun. If you are ever looking for a girls’ night anthem, then they have you covered!

ENHYPEN – ‘Drunk-Dazed’

Now for some guy action… That came out weird, you know what I mean. ENHYPEN’s new hit ‘Drunk-Dazed’ has come out at the perfect time as nothing says summer quite like a high energy, old-school party track like this hit. Formed through the 2020 survival competition show I-Land, ENHYPEN is a new seven-member group consisting of Jungwon, Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-ki. This song is not your usual k-pop jam and gives ‘Suicide Squad’ soundtrack vibes (Will Smith would be proud). I’M OBSESSED!

BAEKHYUN – ‘Bambi’

Okay, lets slow things down for this one. If you are a hopeless romantic, then skip this song because I’m not sure if you will be able to make it passed this track. BAEKHYUN really woke up and chose violence when he created this slow paced, smooth, high-noted chef-d'oeuvre **Chefs kiss**.  If you are tired of the high beat, energetic tracks, then light some candles, slip on a cute fit and blast this tune. Nuf said.

iKON- ‘Why Why Why’

So IKONIC! Like the last tune, this song is slightly slower, showing off the finest vocals and rhythm one could ask for. iKON are back after more than a year with this sweet sounding, well mixed melody. The use of music halts while the members sing between the pauses is on another level. I can honestly say this is one of my new favourite k-pop songs to blast through my speakers. And if you are learning Korean, the chorus, much like ‘One day’ by BTS, is super easy to copy, you’ll be singing it word for word in no time.

NCT DREAM - 'Hot Sauce'

Why is it that every time I listen to this banger I find myself running through the Spanish countryside, wearing a colourful flamenco style dress with the wind blowing in my hair?? Just me?  Well, If you want a dance hit then 'Hot Sauce' is the song for you! The third sub-unit of NCT consisting of Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chenle, Jaemin, Jisung and including Mark will bring out your inner dancer, especially in the 'saucy' pre-chorus! And trust me, there is no fighting the moves that will come out when you play this track, just let your body GO!

IU – ‘LILAC’

“Love me only till this spring” Sorry IU, but we are loving you all summer too! This hit song, and title of her newest album has brought such a new and light sound to the charts. I mean no one can hit the notes she can… Like can we just take a few mins to appreciate the range and vocal control it takes to even attempt this song?!?

Jessi – ‘What Type of X’

via Gfycat

The queen of ‘being so good at being bad’! Yet another hit from our favourite husky voiced nuna, Jessi. And have you tried the dance to this song!? I nearly broke my back so I’m good, but I have A LOT of respect for anyone who has even attempted it. What else is there to say, it’s a classic Jessi style chart topper tune…

Rosé – ‘On The Ground’

I would be crazy not to include this international hit. Honestly, I don’t think she even needs any introduction or blurb. I’ll just leave this here…

aespa - 'Next Level'

via Gfycat

This song is ON THE NEXT LEVEL! I mean its practically a whole mini album in one track! The contrast between the versus, chorus and bridge is insane, but somehow the girls Karina, Giselle, Winter and Ningning, and their digital counterparts, know exactly how to cook up a tune to include it all and more!

 Twice – ‘Kura Kura’

via Gfycat

I know, I know, this song isn’t even in Korean, but I had to. It is normal for K-pop artists to record their hit songs and even make songs in Japanese for their fans, and with 3 native Japanese speakers, Twice is no exception. With a string of bangers recently released from their last album ‘Eyes Wide Open’, Twice have not stopped supplying the goods, leaving us all ‘Kura, Kura, Kura, Kura’ (Dizzy)!

And finally, my personal favourite

ITZY- In the morning

This song brings out the inner Mafia none of us knew we had. Try walking down the street with this in your earphones and not feel like the main character in an action movie. Its impossible…  Props to ITZY for ALWAYS delivering us the GOODS! All I can say is… IM THE MAFIA *Gun fingers*.
