BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez Get Tasteful with "Ice Cream"
On June 28, 2020, after BLACKPINK achieved the milestone of reaching 1.2 billion views on YouTube for their music video, “DDU-DU-DDU-DU”, they created yet another successful single, “How you like that”; Which released two days, before their successful achievement. While BLINKS were excited for the powerful girl group to return, after their big collaboration on “Sour Candy” with Lady Gaga, little did BLINKS know that another huge collaboration was in the works for this summer!
Teaser for The Season of Leisure:
July 22, 2020: BLACKPINK posted on their Instagram account a teaser photo for their new single. The picture depicted a question mark under the words “featuring” that presumes the assumption that BLACKPINK collaborated with another artist. BLINKS started to investigate, to figure out which artist they collaborated with. With Twitter trending hashtags and BLINKS feeds probably going crazy from BLACKPINK’s account, most speculation was around Ariana Grande. #ARIPINK was used as hashtags and many BLINKS believed this was going to be the next big collaboration for BLACKPINK. Another name was thrown into the mix after a while and then Selena Gomez’s name popped up. Before we knew it, #SELPINK was trending on Twitter and everyone was waiting on the confirmation on who the featured artist would be for BLACKPINK's new single.
#SELPINK Became a Reality:
August 11, 2020: BLACKPINK posted on their Instagram account, once again, to release the confirmation of the featured artist on "Ice Cream" - Selena Gomez. Many BLINKS expressed their love for the collaboration because it was like their past coming into their present. Many BLINKS who grew up listening to Selena Gomez’s music from her Disney Channel days to her latest album, Rare, stated how much they appreciate their love for BLACKPINK’s music in the present day and how Selena Gomez's music brought back some nostalgic feelings for fans. Some fans also stated how BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez’s artistry, when it came to their music, is actually pretty similar. BLINKS at the end of the day were excited about the new release and were relaxing, after hearing the confirmed featured artist. #SELPINK started trending on Twitter, once again, and this time, it was not just speculation.
"Ice Cream" D-DAY:
August 27, 2020: BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez released their new single and music video, “Ice Cream”. Now with 13 million likes and over 266 million views on YouTube, “Ice Cream” also got their first win on Inkigayo on September 20, 2020; Marking Selena Gomez as the first Western artist to win on Inkigayo. BLINKS and SELENATORS were cheering on and supporting the singers for SELPINK's first win! After the debut and success of the new single, Blinks noticed Ariana Grande cheering on Selena and BLACKPINK by supporting them with comments on each other's Instagram accounts. It was also announced that Ariana Grande co-wrote "Ice Cream" for BLACKPINK and was grateful for the success of the song and the love it received from people all over the world.

September 21, 2020, YG announced BLACKPINK’s upcoming single, “PRETTY SAVAGE”. The music video for their new single will be released on October 02, 2020.
