j-hope will be the second BTS member to enlist: let’s take a look at the incredible things he achieved in the last few months

BTS' label BIGHIT MUSIC announced on February 26 that BTS member j-hope would soon be enlisting in the Korean military, being the 2nd member of his group to serve their country after BTS Jin enlisted last winter on December 13. We're sure that every ARMY feels a bit sad to see BTS j-hope prepare to go serve for a while, but it's not the end. As BTS and ARMY like to say, "The best is YET TO COME," right? 


In the meanwhile, let's take a chronological look at some of Hobi's greatest achievements in the last few months and reminisce about some of the great memories made with ARMY's HOPE.

Our way through BTS j-hope recent achievements

1. Great success for J-hope’s “MORE”


J-hope’s 2nd solo entry after “Chicken Noodle Soup” featuring Becky G (2019) debuted at No. 82 on the famous Billboard Hot 100 chart and has since stacked up so many more achievements. After topping three more Billboard charts soon after its release,  “MORE” (released July 1, 2022) ranked No. 1  for the very first time on the Emerging Artist chart, joining his fellow BTS members, RM, SUGA, V, and Jungkook, only Korean solo artists to top the chart. 2. “Jack in the Box” release: more success ahead!


BTS j-hope debuted his “Jack in the Box” album (released July 15, 2022) at No. 17 on Billboard 200 charts and reached No. 2 on the World Albums chart. His title track, “Arson,” met an incredible success and soon obtained the title of 2nd Best Selling Song of the week. What a great way to kick it off, j-hope!

3. Hobipalooza: j-hope becomes the 1st Korean artist to headline Lollapalooza


Another historical achievement for ARMY’s sunshine~! J-hope one more time makes history by becoming the very 1st Korean artist to headline a main stage at Lollapalooza, one of the most popular music festivals in the U.S. The Korean artist closed out the event on July 31 by performing a total of 20 tracks, including songs from his newly released album, as well as some of his older songs from his “Hope World” mixtape (released March 2, 2018). j-hope did not forget to include some of his work with his BTS brothers in his performance setlist, attention that went straight to ARMY’s heart. 

4. “Rush Hour”, Crush’s song featuring j-hope ties with Psy  for most No. 1 hits by a Korean solo artist on Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart


After “Jack in the Box” broke another record by becoming the fastest album by a Korean solo artist to surpass 200M streams on Spotify, j-hope returns with a whole new achievement for “Rush Hour” (released September 22, 2022), where he features with Korean artist Crush. The song tied up with Korea’s famous singer Psy for most No. 1’s on the Billboard chart by a Korean solo artist. J-hope had previously earned the title for 4 of his tracks, including his two latest releases, “MORE” and “Arson.”

5. “on the street”, collab song between BTS j-hope and J.Cole, debuts at No. 37 on UK’s Official Singles Chart Top 100, and becomes the artist’s highest charting single on Billboard’s Hot 100


J-hope adds a new title to his list by becoming the 1st K-Pop solo artist to debut in the top 40 of the UK’s Singles Chart with his new release “on the street (with J.Cole)” (released March 3, 2023). He once again ties up with Korean singer Psy as the K-Pop solo artist with the most solo entries on the chart. The song also soon became BTS j-hope’s highest charting single on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart by debuting at No. 60, breaking all records already broken four times by ARMY’s favorite boy.

  • “MORE” hits the No. 1 position on the World Digital Song Sales chart, making it j-hope’s 3rd No. 1 hit on the chart after “Chicken Noodle Soup” and “Daydream.
  • Jack in the Box” reaches No.9 for Best Albums of 2022 on Rolling Stone’s list.
  • Rank No. 42 for “Jack in The Box” on NME’s list of The 50 Best Albums of 2022
  • BTS j-hope ranks No. 23 for one of the 25 Most Stylist Musicians of 2023
  • “on the street (with J. Cole)” ranks No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, as well as Rap Digital Song Sales charts (j-hope now ties up with his fellow member BTS SUGA as the only two Korean artists to reach the No. 1 position on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart more than just one time)

Summary

BTS j-hope’s achievements are nothing but mind-blowing, and ARMYs are very proud to share them with the rest of the world. It is clear that Hobi pours his all into his work for his fans to get the best out of it. He may be leaving soon for some time, but ARMYs will keep on enjoying every piece of his art while patiently waiting for his return as one of BTS 7 precious members. You don’t have to worry, Hobi; ARMY will always be there for you!
