K-Pop Idols Who Starred Korean Dramas This 2023

I can't be the only one who thinks that the appearance of my favorite K-Pop idols in Korean dramas gives the stories a different kind of excitement. For us fans, seeing our favorite idols showing their acting skills and interacting with other actors outside their usual musical performances is such a treat.

Welcome to Daebak Daily! In this blog, we'll explore three popular K-Dramas casting our favorite idols. So keep reading to find some 2023 Korean dramas starring K-pop idols to add to your watchlist.

KIM SE-JEONG: The Uncanny Counter Season 2: Counter Punch

Starring Kim Se-jeong and Jo Byeong-Kyu, this Korean drama is brimming with talented and famous actors and actresses from Korea: Yeom Hye-ran (The Glory), Kang Ki-young (Extraordinary Attorney Woo) and Yoo Jun-Sang (Alchemy of Souls), among others.

This 2023, the much-anticipated second season of the beloved Korean drama has taken flight. The series, which first captured our hearts in 2020, had us eagerly awaiting the return of our favorite characters–So-Moon and Ga Mo-tak. This time, it promises to bring more thrilling narratives and immersive storytelling that will take the story to a whole new level.

Our K-pop star, Kim Se-jeong, has showcased her talent in three different girl groups. She rose to fame after securing second place on the reality show Produce 101, representing Jellyfish Entertainment. This achievement led to her automatic inclusion in the group I.O.I., along with former members Somi and Chungha.

In a twist of events, Se-jeong took a break from I.O.I in June 2016 to debut as the main vocalist of Gugudan.

Se-jeong’s Korean drama, Uncanny Counter, is a compelling series that weaves a unique narrative about a group of people who, while disguised as restaurant workers, engage in the extraordinary task of hunting down malevolent spirits. Each has special, distinctive abilities–or superpowers–making this Korean drama a more exciting TV show. We highly recommend watching it even more because the second part is accessible via Netflix.

OK TAECYEON: Heartbeat

If you're looking for another series different from cliche kdrama and has beautiful cinematography, I've got the perfect recommendation for you - Heartbeat. We continue with mystery, but this one has a dash of the supernatural thrown in for good measure.

Our main guy, Sun Woo-Hyeol (played by TaecYeon), isn't exactly human... he's a vampire! But don't worry, he's not the scary type.

In fact, he longs to experience the thrill of love just like any other person. And then there's Joo In-Hae (brought to life by Won Ji-An), a nurse-teacher just trying to make ends meet.

Sparks fly when the two start to share an apartment, and an unusual love story unfolds. You'll be on the edge of your seat, cheering for this unlikely couple as they navigate their contrasting worlds and find love in the most unexpected places.

You might recognize the name TaecYeon as he has risen to fame as one of the most popular members of 2PM, a Korean boy band managed by JYP Entertainment. Having debuted in 2008, these K-pop idols continue to captivate audiences with their ever-evolving music and dynamic performances. TaecYeon's appearance in this drama only proves that he has much more to offer to this day.

To clear up, TaecYeon has also been in one of the best K-dramas on NetflixVincenzo. Letting apart spoilers, this highly-anticipated drama (starring Song Joong-Ki) gave massive exposure to TaecYeon.

His duality and personality during that K-drama allowed him to keep playing characters in different TV Shows. If you want to watch him on Heartbeat, it's available on Prime Video.

CHA EUN WOO: A Good Day to Be a Dog

As a lover of K-dramas, you simply cannot afford to overlook the upcoming series A Good Day to Be a Dog. This uniquely enchanting romantic drama introduces us to Han Hae-Na (played by Park Gyu Young), a high school teacher with an extraordinary family curse. When she kisses somebody, her partner is transformed into a dog for six hours after midnight.

Her co-star is the famous Cha Eun-Woo of the group Astro. With his impressive portfolio of over ten romantic K-dramas, he has solidified his status as a darling of the Korean entertainment industry. His sweetness on the stage, tuned voice, and fantastic visuals make him one of the most valuable K-pop idols in the industry.

When Eun-Woo played the role of Lee Su-Ho in the hit K-drama True Beauty, it became a pivotal moment in his career, catapulting him to new heights within the industry. This helped increase his and Astro's global fan base among K-drama enthusiasts and K-pop followers.
