Where to Enjoy Winter Activities in Korea

A set of photos with people sledding, snowboarding, and skiing in the snow.

The temperatures are dropping, the leaves are falling to the ground, and we can see our breath in the air.

Winter has arrived. This also means it’s the start of winter activities and sports in Korea. With Autumn in hindsight, it’s time for snowball fights, snow angels, and building snowmen.

So, grab your skis, snowboards, and long padding (winter coats for us outside of Korea) and hit the slopes with this Korean travel guide to a few of the coolest places to visit to do winter sports in Korea.

Winter Activities in Korea

Skiing

When you think of Korea winter activities in South Korea, what comes to mind? Well, hopefully, you are up for heading to the slopes and skiing through the fresh snow!

Welli Hilli Park in Gowon-ro is the place to go to enjoy all your winter sports in South Korea. Specifically, Welli Hilli Park and Welli Hilli Skiing Academy host many skiers and activities in Korea during winter.

With over 20 slopes available, they have slops catered to beginner skiers up to expert-level athletes in the sport.

And don’t worry about needing to bring your own equipment. Welli Hilli Park allows you to rent all the equipment and ski gear you’ll need to have fun on the slopes.

Make sure to keep your toes warm and comfortable all day in a pair of The Barim Wild Tiger Socks.

As mentioned, Welli Hilli has a ski academy for those interested in taking continuous lessons to learn to ski.

But if you are just there for a day, Welli Hilli offers private lessons from their expert instructors to make sure you’ll feel safe and knowledgeable as you ski down the beginner slopes.

Snowboarding

Continuing with our winter activities in Korea tour, we are hitting the slopes again but trading in our pair of skis for a snowboard!

Before you head to the slopes and grab your gear keep your head warm with a beanie from the BLACKPINK Tour collection. Now you’ll have a beanie that is sure to match your snowsuit.

Our next winter sport in South Korea takes us to the previous site where many Olympic sports were held in 2018. YongPyong Resort in Pyeongchang-gun is South Korea’s largest and most popular winter resort.

Open from November until March, the resort is a top-tier tourist destination. With more than 25 slopes and 14 lifts, this is the place to be for winter sports in South Korea.

The resort is the perfect place to spend the holiday season as it also has many accommodations to keep you warm and comfortable during the winter.

In addition to top-tier accommodations, you will have access to top-of-the-line equipment rentals and lessons to make sure once you strap your boots into your board you are gliding down the slopes like a pro!

Ice Skating

Next, it's time to lace up your skates and head to the rink, the ice-skating rink!

Figure skating is one of the most popular winter activities in South Korea. With so many ice-skating rinks available, we are here to share our favorite ice-skating rink to visit during the winter.

In the world’s largest indoor theme park, Lotte World also claims the name for South Korea’s largest ice-skating rink.

Open all year round, Lotte World Ice Rink is a must-go to stop during your winter Korean travels. The ice rink is a perfect place for families, friends, or spending time with that special someone. Either way, you’ll want to add this stop during your winter activities in South Korea.

Warm yourself with a cup of Pororo Tea Time Hot Chocolate after ice skating for a few hours Pororo Tea Time Hot Chocolate. A creamy chocolate cup of deliciousness that will keep your winter spirits high.

Tubing/Sledding

Lastly, we are wrapping up our South Korea winter activities with an exciting visit to Snowy Land! Vivaldi Snowy Land is the best place to visit if you want to enjoy laughs and good times with your friends and families.

No need to be a professional at snow sports here because this is a sledding/tubing adventure in Korea!

So, grab a cute pair of ear muffs like the Jeju Knitted ear muffs and a pair of gloves and get ready for the best time yet.

Located in Songpa-gu, this location is about an hour's commute from the center of Seoul so your whole day won’t be spent traveling.

With fun winter activities like snow racing, snow rafting, and family sledding, you will have to add the Vivaldi SnowyLand to your Korean travels.

Don’t forget, Snowy Land is a perfect date destination as well.

Walk through the Snowflake Tunnel at night and you’ll find a candle-lit street called, Snow Light Street, waiting for you and your special someone to walk hand in hand, take photos, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
