10 K-Pop Idols Coming Back from Military Enlistment

Per South Korea’s military laws, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to serve a period of military service for 18 to 21 months.


Here are the K-Pop idols who are completing their military enlistment this year.

Jin, a radiant and multi-talented member of the globally renowned K-Pop sensation, BTS, captivates fans with his undeniable charm, stunning visuals, and versatile skills. 


Aside from his powerful and melodious voice, he has also showcased his proficiency in acting and songwriting.

As the eldest member of the group, Jin enlisted for mandatory military service on December 13, 2022. He is currently serving as an assistant instructor at the Yeoncheon Army Training Center in northern Gyeonggi Province.


Despite the challenges of military life, Jin has embraced his service and has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to his country. He has also used his time in the military to learn new skills and grow as an individual.

On June 12, 2024, Jin will complete his mandatory military service and be discharged from the army. 


He will be the first BTS member to resume his music career, so fans will definitely welcome him with love.

Wonho (Previously from MONSTA X)

On September 4, 2024, Wonho will complete his mandatory military service. By now, his fans are waiting for his return and have been sending him messages of encouragement throughout his service.

Jaeyoon (from SF9)

Jaeyoon, a captivating and talented member of SF9, brings a unique blend of charm, vocals, and charisma to the forefront of the K-Pop scene. 


As SF9’s main vocalist, Jaeyoon has consistently dazzled fans with his powerful and emotive singing, contributing significantly to the group’s musical excellence. His stage presence is marked by confidence and grace, making him a standout performer.

On March 21, 2023, SF9's lead vocalist and dancer, Jaeyoon, enlisted for mandatory military service. He became the third member of the group to fulfill this national duty, following leader Youngbin (February 2022) and eldest member Inseong (September 2022).


Jaeyoon's enlistment was held privately at an undisclosed army training center to minimize crowds and maintain social distancing protocols. FNC Entertainment, SF9's agency, thanked fans for their understanding and unwavering support.

Jaeyoon is expected to serve for approximately 18 months, completing his service on September 19, 2024. Upon his return, he will rejoin SF9 and continue his music career. In the meantime, fans can look forward to SF9's activities with their remaining six members.

Mino (from WINNER)

Song Minho, known as Mino, a dynamic and versatile artist and member of WINNER, stands out as a captivating force in the K-Pop industry. Renowned for his distinctive rapping skills, Mino has played a crucial role in shaping WINNER’s signature sound. 


His talents extend beyond music with Mino showcasing proficiency in various artistic endeavors, including visual arts and television appearances.

Mino enlisted as a social service agent for mandatory military service on March 24, 2023.


Mino’s enlistment was held privately at a non-disclosure military training center to prevent large crowds and maintain social distancing guidelines. YG Entertainment, Mino’s agency, thanked fans for their understanding and support.


As a social service agent, Mino is expected to perform tasks that contribute to society, such as working in public institutions, assisting the disabled, and supporting social welfare programs. His service is expected to last for around 18 months, and he is scheduled to complete it on September 22, 2024.

Upon discharge, Mino will reunite with WINNER and continue his musical activities. The group’s fans, known as Inner Circles, eagerly await his return and have been sending messages of support throughout his service.

Minhyuk (from MONSTA X)

Minhyuk’s enlistment was also held privately at an undisclosed army training center to minimize crowds and maintain social distancing protocols. Starship Entertainment, MONSTA X’s agency, released a statement thanking fans for their unwavering support.

His service is expected to last for around 18 months and will complete his military service in early October 2024. Upon discharge, Minhyuk will reunite with MONSTA X and continue his musical activities.

J-Hope (from BTS)
